After sterilized - 1st Day

Dana haven't eat from before the surgery till yesterday night. More than 24hrs already! But vet says must make her eat.. and also there's med to eat. So i've got no choice but to cook some porridge and force feed her >.<  But, she's real smart too! Cuz i kept forcing her mouth open to pour a little porridge eat bit by bit, she keep forcing her mouth close. Till a point of time, she just lie down there with 4 legs facing up!! But it's ok, i can take the chance to clean the area.. =D

She started eating herself when I told her "gai gai" in de afternoon. Fed her a treat to try and to my surprise, SHE ATE!! so i tried feeding her more and SHE ATE TOO!! Hahahaha! I was happy like mad!! Faster went down to NTUC and buy more fresh food to cook for her. Wheeee~ As of night time, she's already eating her food. Not full appetite but enough i suppose. Ate all kinds of pork today.. Pork liver, pork belly, minced pork. Also cooked potato, carrot and cabbage for her. Hehehe =D Hope tml she will eat more ^^

Dana sterilize 22 June 2012

Dana went to sterilized at light of life today. Specially booked pet taxi so that she can sit comfortably there and return home. Thx Nick from StarShine_inc Pets for the great service! =D

Silly darling was still so excited while waiting for Nick.

When we reached the clinic, got to fill in form and wait for the vet. Poor darling was so afraid that she climbed up to my lap when we tried to weigh her.. She must have tot that she is still that small little puppy years ago >.<

When we went in, the lady vet chatted w us and understand more about Dana, gave her a checkup to make sure she's fit for sterilization. Got to know from her that she can only know if Dana is totally off heat when they remove the uterus.. But normally 3.5months after her last mensus is safest. Dana's mensus ended in April. But i was afraid that July/ Aug period i will be busy.. So i still went ahead w the procedure...

The vet gave Dana a jab to calm her down so that they can carry her in with ease.. If not she's gg to struggle like mad. Cuz Dana is not comfortable wo me not around =( Waited a few mins after her jab and see she slowly calm down, and lose her focus like a drunken doggie.. Slowly she sit down and we left the room.

 

Went back to fetch her at about 830.The vet walked her out and when i first saw her, i felt so bad already! She wasn't really exactly happy or excited when she saw me.. Still look grouchy. Maybe cuz the GA not totally off yet. But she still could wag a little tail.. Gave her a kiss for being so brave!

Vet wanted to show me the place when they open her up, but she doesn't want to show. Scream a little when we tried to lift up her leg. Must be very painful *haiz*

So i got the vet to still bandage the area up in case it might still sip a little blood. The pressure press on it will reduce the possibility. And cuz she will still be lying down here and there, it kinda protects the area first yeah?

The vet also showed me the uterus that they have removed and explained to me how it works; showed me where the babies will be at, where it is connected etc. and Dana is still in heat! =( So there was a little more blood lost than usual..I'm sorry i'm gg to show smth very bloody...

 

Pampers again!

My mama just help me wear this irritating plastic thing again.. It's pampers! I really hate it a lot... It kept following ard behind me I can't even pee.. I want to take it off!!

Debbie Mummy

Dana's mummy, Debbie had left this world on 2nd March 2012.

Though Debbie always have this deep look on her face, she really have a great smile =) Her smiling face always make us not able to resist ourselves, but try to approach her to give her a hug, a pat or a treat. Yet till this day, Debbie still couldn't really open up to humans... She would take back 3 steps if you take 1 step near her. When uncle wee shared the pictures he had of Debbie when she's out roaming freely before she came to the shelter, the look on her face was what i'm sure we had never seen before in the shelter.

Today, on 2 March 2012, is the day I first touched you, and the last.

When i first put my hand on you, i can still feel the mild warmth on your body.. You look as if you are just sleeping soundly in the white tub..

Only today, i realize how soft your fur is..

Before you left, your body is already cold and stiff.

Dear Debbie,
Because of you, Gentle Paws makes it where they are today..
Because of you, more people can understand that dogs needs their place in this busy city too, and not behind the 4 fences in a far away corner that not many people might notice..

I remember the day when i first saw Dana & Dior & their siblings, is the day i first saw you too. Though i only see you from afar, i can still remember the worried face you had on your face, when Uncle wee and florence brought your babies out to me. Afterall, it was because of them that made you decide to follow Uncle Wee to where you r today, putting a full stop to your freedom. I'm sorry that ultimately, i can only choose 1 and wasn't able to provide a home for the other..
But because of you, I had a wonderful daughter who have made a difference in my life tremendously..

Thank you Debbie for giving us what we had today..

Dana skin problem

I haben been giving updates on Dana here for quite some time.. Cuz hab been updating on Facebook instead. But I'm so sad recently. I bought a new shampoo for her cuz of new year, but guessed it's not suitable for her. So it's giving her a lot of problems now =(

This is the shampoo that i bought =(

She had rashes on some part of her skin, n some wet wound at the shoulder area. Maybe due to excess scratching/ biting. That's not all, she's in pain n shedding a lot of fur now!

I'm sorry darling.. It's all my fault.. T-T just hope that u will get better ASAP...

R.I.P Dollar

Dollar, seems to be the Mascot of Gentle Paws .. People who know of, or went to gentle paws, would surely know of this sweet girl.. Few days ago, Dollar was diagnosed with Kidney Failure and chances of survival is low.. Today, came this very sad news.. Dollar crossed over the rainbow bridge at 3.50.. R.I.P dearest Dollar.. now u'll b beside the person u love and trust most everyday.. Please do bless your love ones and friends at the shelter and keep them safe from illness..

Dana Mensus

Dana's have her mensus recently !! Poor her n poor me.. (T-T) Poor her cuz she has to go thru de agnoy of wearing a pampers.. Poor me cuz she tend to bite off her pampers during de middle of de night, disturbing my slp >.<


Recently have been so busy that dun have time to pei dana.. But my darling dana is so understanding.. Nv keep make noise or anything.. Evi night just wait patiently for me to come back n play w her ~ When i have de time, will try to bring her for longer walks to make up for it.. ^^ But this month is de chinese 7th month, so cant bring her for work at late nights =( After this month, our late walks will continue ok ?

Dana & New Toy

Recently bu shi need go sch, jiu shi got to keep go mama shop.. Feel so guilty no time pei Dana.. So bought her a new toy to keep her entertained.. So happy she LOVE it alot ! Everyday also playing with it.. Always snatch w me, sleep oso sleep tog w her toy.. Keke.. Sorry darling T_T U must guai guai at home k ? got time will sure pei u de ~ *muackies*

I swear i will never buy food from Pet Lover Center again.. The food that i bought less than 1 month ago, i've already repacked them into AIR-TIGHT bags and containers.. Yet ? i found worms inside !! Yuck ~ Must be dunno they left on shelve for dunno how long lor.. Why don't i face the same problem when i ordered online from DoggyFriend ? yuck yuck yuck !! Threw away all the packets.. and eat the food i bought from DoggyFriend. Lucky i got backed up.. But the sudden change of food oso made Dana had diarrhoea for 2 days =( But still she is eating v well.. kekeke ~! Guai dana ~ Mayb because of this, she seems to have grown fatter.. Her harness were tighter !! =\ See for urself ? xD

Recently bought super good quality food for dana to try.. to see if she eats.. Bought both Timberwolf and Taste of the Wild.. Wanted to buy only taste of the wild, but don't have stock, so let her try timberwolf, elk and salmon flavor 1st.. For the first 2 days, dana ate them.. Tot she loves it ! But it didn't last long again.. after like 1 wk ? Taste of de wild duck flavor de stock was here ! so let dana try too, but she didn't eat it as quickly as timberwolf =\ Till today, was playing with her and using her food as "treats" to bluff her eat, she oso chose to eat timberwolf rather than taste of the wild.. Mayb cuz timberwolf smells better ? Cuz it really got a nice smell, but taste of the wild no smell de..

Read somewhere that heat up de canned food n mix w de dry food, or putting hot water to the dry food can bring out de smell so that picky dogs have higher chance to eat de food.. So i tried it as well, and dana really ate all ! Interesting ~ Shall try again tml.. *Pray hard that she will eat*

Little Oliver looking for home

Story of Little Oliver
Rescuer : "An eventful day. With 3 dogs sent to the vet for sterilisation, we were later informed by workers at a construction that there is a puppy.

When I walked further into the site, I was saddened to see a very young pup, lying lifeless beneath a bench.

His neck area was wet with an unknown substance. Fleas crawling all over his baby face and worms made his little tummy appear bulging like a sack. He looked weak and sick, and could bearly walked, stumbling as he tried to get up.... See More

Once we brought him into the car, his hunger drove him to sniff out the box of char siew bao we had, his weak little body suddenly alive cos his hunger was so strong, he used his little strength to paddle towards the scent.

He ate and drank, clearly his last meal was very long ago.

We then took him to the vet to be treated for fleas and dewormed. And he later came home with me.

Although I had only known him for a few hours, this little boy has a loyal heart. He at times turns back to look at me with his puppy-round eyes. And when I placed him on the sofa or floor to lie down, he will look up at me, and moved to place his head on my lap, or just his body next to me.

He comes when I call. And he sits still to be wiped clean. He even knows to poo on the newspaper!

This boy has won my heart. And we have decided to give him a second chance. He will grow up to be a medium sized dog.

We are looking for someone who is familiar with local breeds and is willing and able to raise up a very young pup, who may whine and cry at night (but he will stop as soon as you place him near you), needs to be trained and forgiven for his puppy mistakes for now. Someone who understands the commitment to the lifetime of an animal.

Dana's skin condition getting better

Dana's skin condition is getting better ! And recently i realised that dana have alot of food at home le.. Even more than human food ! She has got alot variety of canned food, BARF raw meat patties, alot diff kind of treats.. Which includes biscuits, bacon, few packets of JERKY treats (mama bought it), alot packets of bones.. think is call Rawhide bones? how many packets? 1 packet of original flavour, with 2 more bones left.. And it's quite big size.. 1 packet of milk flavoured.. but smaller in size, 10 pcs.. 1 packet of mint flavoured, left 8 pcs.. Today jeff bought a 12 pcs pack from msia too.. Oh ! and i recently redeemed 2 fish4dogs treats from pet lovers too.. yummy ~ Lucky dana.. She have got more food than me at home! Envy right? But i'm really happy that, dana is getting loved by more pple le xD she's really such a darling !
Recently cuz of de changes in my house, i need to let dana slp outside my room.. =( But midnight, dana kept crying outside, n kept knock my room.. Wonder how dog knocks ? She will keep use her hand to scratch my door.. haha.. Then i cant bear to see her do that, so will open de door n carry her straight to my bed.. So that she wun go disturb my maid.. And i realised i can't get to slp or can't slp well without dana slping beside me too.. Look at how she always occupies my bed..
Sometimes i think, dana isn't really a dog.. She's like a human ! haha.. Just look at how she sleeps on the sofa ! so so so cute !

wow ! i think dana really loves the BARF meat ! Recently, i needed to add in alot of canned meat to her dry food, den she will finish her food.. But just now, i only added in abit of the meat to the food, and she finished everything ! Woots !! Great ~ Hope this maintains xD

BARF Diet

Noticed dana's skin condition and her fur starts to drop alot.. and was thinking, it might be due to food allergy.. Cuz I started mixing in the kibbles that jade jade gave me for her bday.. Last time i used to feed Dana the same brand kibbles, with chicken as main ingredient, and she also had similiar problems.. Loss of fur, flaky skin etc.. It's the same problem now but seems to be worst.. Thats y she was shivering last wk, and i think it hurts when we touch the area.. So i stop feeding her that, and feed her only her old kibbles, that's lamb.. And she's getting better now =) Not painful le, and back to her active nature ^_^ V But her appetite is still quite poor, and still losing fur.. Of cuz i won't expect the condition to recover so fast =x

But due to my over panick nature, especially towards my baobei daughter, decided to let her try BARF diet.. Last time heard from annie that it's a good food for doggie.. And read some info regarding it too.. Alot said to have improved their dog's skin n coat condition, breath, stools etc.. So, shall let dana try it =) Thx Alfred for delivering the food, and very kind of him to explain to me on the feeding stuffs etc.. Was kinda worried that the meat patties are small, but it's quite big ! It comes in box like this, with 12 meat patties inside..


So i cut the patties to individual, to allow me to defrost it easily ^_^
See dana beside looking at her new food.. Look at how thin she is now cuz of her poor appetite T_T Shall let dana try 1 tml, and see whether she likes it. But i trust she will love it ! cuz.. It's MEAT ! hahaha ~ Better than those kibbles mix with canned food that she have been eating.. Not that nice right ? =x

Today dana is a little emo.. dunno what happened.. Woke up and saw her keep hide at 1 corner.. Didn't even want to eat her treats when i feed her =( When i want to touch her, she's shivering.. Haiz dunno what happened.. Then i bring her down for her walk, hope she will get better.. She can still walk, but her tail was still down.. =( Hope she will be fine soon..

Vaccination Day

Today, dana had her vaccination.. And also a blood test to test for heartworm disease.. And glad that she's very healthy ^_^ The vet took her weight and she's 19kg ~ the last time she took her weight i think she's only 17kg.. @_@
Also, big thanks to aunty Jade for all these treats and food for her 2yr old bday ~ Must be thinking.. where's her mummy's gift ? well.. i cooked her smth nice for her to eat that night.. hahaha ! yummy yummy ~

Recently bought a big big bone for dana.. Initially wanted to give her as bday present next mth de.. But it look so appealing to me that, i cant stop myself from giving it to her 1st xD

Just now was looking at the side of this blog.. And saw dana's bday.. Nov 2007.. Dana join my family in yr 2007 too.. and now, it's 2009 le ! Going to 2 yrs.. Time really flies ~ And i'm still loving Dana more n more each day ~ Hoping to give her the best stuffs whenever i got the ability to do so ^_^ Dana have been really v guai too =) So proud of my darling ~ <3
